From 2006 to 2009, I undertook an extensive photo series on rock musicians backstage right before and after their performances. I captured on black & white film the emotional experiences lived during these crucial moments, familiar to me from a personal experience as a rock musician myself. Using my vintage Hasselblad camera, I was able to create a composition that gave my subjects' environment equal importance, thus underlining the intimate relationship between the musicians and the backstage area. To avoid disturbing the artists, I rarely took more than three shots. Backstage was published as a book in 2009 (see "Publications"). It contains my texts  along with fifty photos of rock musicians (Beck, Beastie Boys, Smashing Pumpkings, Jack White, Paul McCartney...). My photo of M.I.A. was selected for the American museum exhibition Who Shot Rock and Roll: A Photographic History from 1955 to the Present (Wikipedia link), exhibited in several major cities across the U.S.A. from 2009 to 2013.
