In 1998,  I discovered in the downtown neighbourhood where I was living the Grey Nuns of Montreal, a community of some 200 nuns, 85 years old on average. With special permission, over the course of three years, I photographed the sisters in their mother house while they were tending to their daily activities. The series was exhibited at the Marguerite d'Youville Museum in 2001, where the public was able to get an inside view of the historic Mother House. The complex has recently been sold to Concordia University and all of the nuns have moved out.
